For expectant mothers:

A team of obstetricians, maternal-fetal medicine specialists and nurses work together to provide the best technology and personal care to achieve optimal pregnancy outcomes. Some specific procedures include:

Ultrasounds, including more in-depth level II ultrasounds
Genetic counseling
First trimester screening
Amniocentesis
Chorionic villus sampling
Cordocentesis
Amniotic fluid reduction

For babies:

Advanced neonatal procedures and technology for babies in the Level IIB Special Care Nursery are provided by experienced, board certified neonatologists on the medical staff of Winchester Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital. Neonatologists provide prenatal consultation to prepare families for the management of high-risk babies as well as care for them after delivery. These expert physicians and nurses work with the mother and family to provide support and consultation for what can be an extremely stressful situation for families. Some of the neonatal complications cared for include premature birth, respiratory distress, infection and drug withdrawal symptoms. Some specific procedures include:

Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) to support breathing
High flow nasal cannula oxygen
Needle thoracentesis
Chest tube placement
Pediatric EKG and echocardiography
Parenteral nutrition
Upper GI series
Central line placement via umbilical catheter and PICC lines
